I see this happening again and again in my classes. But what actually lies behind this method? Which ideas formed the foundation of this work?   <\/p><p>In this blog, I\u2019ll take you into the world of thought of Moshe Feldenkrais, and show how his research developed into a method that makes a real difference for so many people.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7cca55e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7cca55e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>A method born out of necessity<\/h2><p>Moshe Feldenkrais developed his method because he himself could not continue without change.<br>An old knee injury eventually made it almost impossible for him to walk. His question was simple yet powerful:<br><em>\u201cHow is it that my knee functioned well for years, and now it doesn\u2019t anymore? What has changed? And can I reverse that process?\u201d<\/em> <\/p><p>He discovered that almost all movement education assumes that sitting, standing, and walking are simply there by default. But that\u2019s not true: we learned these skills ourselves. And if you once learned them, you can also rediscover how to do them in a lighter, more efficient, and more natural way.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-0a481dd elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0a481dd\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-b4d8c2f\" data-id=\"b4d8c2f\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d6e0b29 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d6e0b29\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>Learning through sensing and moving<\/h2><p>Feldenkrais observed how children learn to move.<br>He saw that new movements arise slowly, through small variations, playfully, curiously, and without pressure. Not through performance, but through curiosity. <\/p><p>Tempo plays a crucial role here. When a child discovers something new, it moves slowly. This is what makes change lasting. <\/p><p>For many people, this opens up surprising capacities. I experienced myself how my confidence in speaking foreign languages changed during my Feldenkrais training \u2014 as if the brain reorganized itself and made room for something that had previously felt difficult.  <\/p><p>Newness, the unknown, and playfulness are therefore core concepts in the Feldenkrais Method.<br>Sometimes a lesson feels like a puzzle; precisely because of that, something opens up that would otherwise remain closed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-70db173 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"70db173\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-3f0422e\" data-id=\"3f0422e\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-37f223a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"37f223a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>An old Tibetan parable<\/h2><p>Feldenkrais ended his book Awareness Through Movement with a parable that beautifully summarizes his vision.<\/p><p>Imagine yourself as a carriage:<br><\/p><p>the passengers are your wishes and dreams,<br>the horses are your muscles,<br>the carriage is your skeleton,<br>and the driver is your awareness.<\/p><p>When the driver is asleep, the horses pull in all directions and the carriage never truly arrives anywhere. But when the driver is awake \u2014 with attention and direction \u2014 cooperation arises.
